About Shelter
George has been rescuing animals for over 25 years in Crete, Greece. He started out feeding stray dogs and cats and during the Greek economic collapse climbed into skips near butchers' shops to find bones to boil with rice. He made and placed kennels on waste ground to provide shelter where strays congregated.
With the help of friends he was able to buy a piece of land where the shelter now stands. His shelter is home to around 120 dogs. We particularly aim to help animals who are vulnerable due to age, (young and old), injury or health issues. Many of the dogs we take need expensive medical treatment.
We pride ourselves on providing a loving environment for our dogs where they have space to run around and play and live in groups to form "family" bonds.
We are entirely reliant on donations to fund this work.
